Hello Readers,
This is my first composition on the program GarageBand entitled Indie Miracles. Despite the incredibly cheesy title, it's a short composition encompassing different elements and techniques of GarageBand. Being a PC user, I don't have access to GarageBand so I bought it for iPad ($4.99) to create this looping madness. I used drums, bass, percussion, pad, and recorded/manipulated voice. I made a previous "song" using the strings feature and let me tell you, it is a fun time. It's a relatively easy to use program, nothing like Sibelius or Finale (obviously) but it does a lot more than I thought it did. You actually have to have a bit of theory knowledge to understand some of vocabulary like mixolydian and pentatonic. Even if a user does not know what those mean, they can figure it out by hearing everything before they record it. It's a great tool that could be used in a classroom and could be used in the practice room as well, but I wouldn't expect John Mackey to pop out his next composition on this thing. |
